Using the S'COOL Database for Research Projects
By accessing the S'COOL database, you can see the ground observations made by S'COOL students all over the world. To date, there are also over 22,000 matching CERES satellite data entried corresponding to the ground observations.
You have the option to view only your data (including any satellite matches) by choosing "Search My Own S'COOL Observations." If you want to view data for other participants also choose "Search All S'COOL Observations".
Search My Own S'COOL Observations Data
If you only want to see your own observations, enter your login and password (the same ones you use when submitting observations). You may then use any of the following options:
- If you click "Submit Query Request" at this point, you will see all of your data in the S'COOL database.
- Option 1: Date Range
Use this, for example, if you only want to see observations for the current school year.- Option 2: Search for Only Ground Observations That Have Matching Satellite Data
Use this, for example, if you want to view only the observations you made that correspond to satellite data.
Search All S'COOL Observations Data
If you would like to see data from all S'COOL participants, use must select at least one of these options:
You must select one of these three options for this search to work correctly.
- Option 1: Date Range
Use this, for example, if you only want to see observations for the current school year.- Option 2: Geographical Range
Use this, for example, if you only want to see observations from the state of Virginia. You will have to consult a map to figure out what lat/long limits to use. Latitude can be from -90.00 to +90.00. Longitude can be from -180.00 to +180.00. Please note, if you select a large area, this will generate a very large output to your screen and may crash your browser. Please search in small increments.
(Our to do list includes developing a system where you could just click on "State of blank". If this would be helpful to you, please send your vote asking us to give this a higher priority!)- Option 3: Search for Only Ground Observations That Have Matching Satellite Data
Use this, for example, if you only want to search for ground observations that correspond to satellite data. Here is an example of current output... New Sample Web Page Output - en_query_results.html.
Here is an example of the downloadable spreadsheet file... New Sample Download Output File - 12241521.grn.bin.
